Truth in Life Publishing
2020
The OAR Foundation seeks to work with Truth & Life Publishers, a ministry directed by Renato Giuliani. The main objective of T&L is to publish important Christian books written in centuries past but now unknown or simply unavailable to Christian readers: major biblical commentaries, valuable theological treatises, formative practical books on Christian living, significant histories and biographies. The ministry is based on the conviction that the recovery of these lost literary treasures will contribute to the theological and spiritual reformation so much needed in contemporary Christianity. Moreover, aware of the difficult times in which we live and the need to see a deep spiritual reawakening in America, T&LP aims at publishing evangelistic literature which is both biblically sound and spiritually sensitive to the plight of man in our contemporary world. Of particular notice is the Baptist Heritage Series, dedicated to 17th – 19th century Baptist authors, and the Italian Reformers Series, devoted to 16th – 17th century Italian reformers and martyrs. Indeed, after 29 years of research into Italian and Swiss archives and libraries, Renato Giuliani has collected hundreds of rare documents related to the Reformation in Italy: documents that have survived the flames of the Inquisition and testify to the faithfulness of many Italian evangelical believers during that time of terrible persecution. Most of these books have never been republished since then and some have never been published at all, being still in manuscript form. Many are written in Latin, such as Peter Martyr Vermigli’s commentary on Romans or Jerome Zanchius’ commentary on Ephesians. The translation and publication of these volumes through T&L will make for the first time these volumes available to English speaking readers. In fact, part of the proceeds of T&L will be donated to Passaggio Edizioni (http://www.passaggio.org/), a publishing ministry which seeks to do in Italy and in the Italian language what T&L seeks to do in America in the English language. Renato Giuliani – a brief biography.
Born and raised as a Roman Catholic in Rome, Italy, Renato Giuliani was converted to Christ in 1981. Called to ministry seven years later, he moved to Winston Salem (NC) to study at Piedmont Bible College (1989-1994), after which he returned to his homeland as missionary with his wife Cheri and his three children, Sarah, Erika and Luke. Through the years his ministry has been exerted at two levels: one local, evangelizing and pastoring a church in the Rome area; one national, publishing sound Christian literature responding to the needs of both believers and unbelievers. Director of Truth & Life Publishers, Renato is the author of several books of biblical and historical character: Goffredo Varaglia e le missioni evangeliche in Italia, 1532-1558 (2007), Un incontro inevitabile (2010), Understanding the gospel (2015), Giubileo (2016), Tornare a Dio (2018).
PUBLISHING CHRISTIAN LITERATURE IN ITALY
The OAR Foundation is working with Armando and Sarah Borsini to help them provide sound Christian literature in the Italian language. When one considers that less than 0.3% of Italians claim to be conservative evangelicals (143,000 out of 55,000,000), three needs become evident: the need to publish sound and fundamental Christian literature for the spiritual and theological strengthening of the small existing remnant; the need to publish incisive evangelistic literature to make the gospel known to the Italian people as a whole; the need to publish books on vital moral, social, scientific, and historical issues, to inject biblical truth into the intellectual and cultural circuits of a secularized society that has atheism as its basic premise, hedonism as its moral compass and nihilism as its ultimate prospective. The task is daunting, but God “is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Ephesians 3:20). It was with this vision and for this purpose that, in 2015, Armando and Sarah were appointed by their church, located in Rome, Italy, to work full time in the ministry of translation and publication. They work in conjunction with the publishing ministry of Passaggio (http://www.passaggio.org/), whose distribution reaches the whole country, through its website and all the major Christian and secular distributers and bookstores.
Presently their financial support is insufficient for their needs. If you would like to help in this regard, click on the donate page and enter … To know more about their life and ministry, write to armando.borsini@gmail.com.
